The doctrine of the founding fathers of modern Christianity is built upon a foundational set of principles known as The Five Solas:
Sola Scriptura (“Scripture Alone”)
Sola Fide (“Faith Alone”)
Sola Gratia (“Grace Alone”)
Solus Christus (“Christ Alone”)
Soli Deo Gloria (“To God Alone Be the Glory”)
At first glance, these principles sound strong and reassuring. But does the organization that claims to be grounded in them truly follow them? In some ways, yes—yet the first three lack specificity.
For instance, Sola Scriptura does not clarify which Scriptures are being referenced. If it strictly refers to the God-breathed Scripture, then the replacement of Shabbat with Sunday is not found anywhere in the canonized Bible. Additionally, creeds are not substitutes for the divinely inspired Word of God.
We are called to worship on any day, so worshiping on Sunday is not against Yahweh’s divine instructions. However, replacing Shabbat with Sunday contradicts His ordained command.
